The Maris Review, vol 40 (sort of)
A brief goodbye to Substack
Please forgive how short this newsletter is today. I’m in the process of transferring my Substack account over to Ghost and if all goes according to plan, you won’t notice much of a change. Paid subscribers won’t have to do anything (except accept my undying love and appreciation).
So many of the people I love the most are on Substack. I’ll still support them and rave about them and subscribe to their newsletters. But for me, it’s time to get away from the platform of Bari Weiss and Jesse Singal and Naomi Wolf. And the actual Nazis, of course. At a time when looking at the news makes me feel helpless, I want to do everything I can do within my power to distance myself from Elon defenders and others who conflate hate speech with free speech.
I hope you’ll continue to subscribe. There are so many excellent books coming out this year that I want to tell you about, so many dumbass moves in the publishing industry I want to complain about. Let’s continue to read together and talk a bunch of shit?
Thank you so much. <3
